CNBC Shanghai Institute of Biological Products (SIBP) founded in 1949 is a large state-owned hi-tech enterprise engaged in research, development, production and marketing of biological products, which serves human health improvement of people’s constitution. The institute is authorized to confer master’s degrees in biochemistry, molecular biology, and pathogenic biology. SIBP has strong and sound technical force and more than 1000 professional staff.

The institute has nine research laboratories including those of molecular biology, monoclonal antibody, genetic engineering, proteomics, bacterial polysaccharides, molecular virology, and plasma protein products, and one laboratory management center. There are many research teams led by domestic and overseas scientists carrying out research and development on new products. SIBP has completed many national research projects, including the projects of the Seventh Five-Year Plan, the Eighth Five-Year Plan, the March 1986 Hi-tech Program, and the March 1997 Hi-tech Program. The institute has made more than 100 achievements in scientific research, among them more than 30 won Awards of Science and Technology Progress set by State Science and Technology Commission, Ministry of Health, and Shanghai Municipality, respectively.

SIBP possesses the new completed R&D Center with advanced facilities and full functionality, the first-rate production line of blood products, and the vaccine production line built in accordance with the GMP requirements of EU. All workshops in SIBP have passed national GMP validation. The 260 mu Inventive Science Park located at bay in Fengxian Country shall be built as a garden-type standardized biological product production area at international level. SIBP-WITHUB Science Park is and innovatory technology union engaged in the production, academy, and research of biological products, and a marker of biopharmaceutical area including some of the top 500 enterprises.

SIBP has produced more than 200 varieties of licensed products including blood products, prophylactics, recombinant products, and diagnostic reagents. Varicella vaccine, influenza vaccine, measles-mumps vaccine, and human albumin won the title of New Key Product and the title of Famous Quality Product set by the state and Shanghai Municipality, respectively. “Shangsheng” brand won the title of Shanghai Famous Quality Product from 2007 to 2009, and the products of “Shangsheng” brand have enjoyed a high reputation both at home and abroad. New products, such as measles-mump-rubella vaccine and Hemophilus influenzae vaccine, shall improve the influence of the “Shangsheng” brand.

In the past sixty years, SIBP has established technological cooperation and trade relationships with more than twenty countries and areas including the United States, Holland, Japan, Korea, Egypt, Brazil and Cuba. The institute has successively won the title of Shanghai High Tech Enterprise for more than ten years.
